Fears

People who stop believing in Mormonism and/or stop affiliating with the Church often feel fear during their faith transition. This is normal, and you can deal with these fears.

One way to address them is to think about them critically, if you haven’t already.

Another strategy is to use humor. (This is where ex-Mormons may make believing Mormons mad by making fun of aspects of LDS theology or by satirizing their own temple experiences.)

If you have recently become an atheist, then you may be having an existential crisis and need to address one or more common existential fears: fears of death, meaninglessness, isolation, and freedom.

This YouTube playlist contains videos that address common subjects of ex-Mormon fears.

If you are going through an existential crisis, I recommend checking out the work of Dr. Britt Hartley, who combines philosophy, science, religion, and more to help people develop their own sense of no-nonsense spirituality. She also has a great TikTok page.
