Spiritual experiences are part of being human, and various phenomena are experienced by people of all religions, all over the world.
What you believe those experiences mean is the domain of religion and thus can’t be definitively proven, but neuroscience can nonetheless shed light on what may be happening.
If you no longer believe that the feelings are words you’ve heard are God speaking to you, and you’d like to know what you did experience, then this page may be helpful to you.
