Teachings, Doctrine, and Theology

What is labeled as “doctrine” in mainstream Mormonism can be controversial. Same for theology. As a result, I often just refer to whatever issue I’m talking about as a “teaching,” because for me the fact that the Church taught something as truth during x time period is the thing I care about. But some of the relevant resources for these issues discuss the issue of doctrine vs. teachings or deal with systematized theologies, so I’ve used all three words here.

This playlist contains discussions of teachings, doctrine, and theology.

Mormonism and White Supremacy: American Religion and the Problem of Racial Innocence, by Joanna Brooks, contains information about how anti-Black white supremacist ideas came to be taught in LDS Church curricula.
